DRA Projects is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our engineering team based in Woodmead. This role will support concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility, EPCM, and EPC projects, with a primary focus on the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power systems across both local and international assignments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed electrical power systems designs.

  • Conduct comprehensive power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, network stability, power factor correction, and harmonics.

  • Carry out protection studies, design, and implementation.

  • Provide technical input for studies and proposals.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering and drafting teams.

  • Review design information from vendors, contractors, and consultants.

  • Offer engineering support to site teams.

  • Assist in the management of procurement packages.

  • Participate in site installation, testing, and commissioning activities.

  • Manage red-line drawings, documentation, and project handover processes.

  • Support the implementation of projects both locally and internationally.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or BTech in Electrical Engineering.

  • At least 5 years’ experience within the power systems industry.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection studies and implementation.

  • Strong expertise in load flow and short circuit studies.

  • Experience with large motor start-up studies and network stability analysis.

  • Knowledge of power factor correction and harmonics.

  • Experience in energy management.

  • Secondary injection testing experience.

  • Hands-on site installation and commissioning experience.

  • General understanding of generator systems.

  • Proficiency in ETAP and/or DIgSILENT software.

  • Experience with protection relays.

  • General PLC programming knowledge.

  • In-depth understanding of high and medium voltage power systems.

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be technically proficient in power systems engineering and comfortable working within multidisciplinary EPC/EPCM project teams. They will be capable of supporting projects throughout all phases—from engineering studies and design to procurement, site installation, and commissioning.
