Hourly Contract – Minimum 3 Months (Potential Extension)

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Draughtsperson with advanced Autodesk Revit expertise to join our Architecture Drawing Office based in Woodmead. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of mining, industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects, delivering high-quality architectural models and construction-ready documentation.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will operate within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, independently developing architectural drawings and models from conceptual design through to detailed design and construction stages. You will collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update architectural 3D models and drawings using Autodesk Revit.
• Produce comprehensive architectural drawing packages, including general arrangements, detailed designs, construction drawings, sections and schedules.
• Prepare detailed architectural documentation covering building components, finishes, roofing, waterproofing, doors, windows and staircases.
• Coordinate architectural designs with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and process engineering disciplines.
• Participate in BIM coordination sessions to identify and resolve design clashes.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, applicable SANS standards, building regulations and client requirements.
• Perform rigorous drawing quality checks, maintain drawing registers and manage document revisions.
• Generate model-based schedules and quantity take-offs as required.
• Provide technical drafting support during construction, including responding to site queries and preparing as-built documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

• National Diploma in Architectural Technology, Architectural Draughting, Drawing Office Practise or a related qualification. Relevant practical experience will also be considered.
• Approximately 5–12 years’ experience in architectural draughting and design documentation.
• Advanced Autodesk Revit proficiency is essential.
• Proven experience developing architectural models and drawings from concept through to construction issue.
• Experience producing detailed architectural drawings and comprehensive construction documentation.
• Exposure to mining, industrial, commercial or infrastructure projects is advantageous.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or consulting environments.
• Strong understanding of building construction methods, architectural detailing and applicable South African building standards.

Technical Skills

• Advanced Autodesk Revit modelling and drafting skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with BIM workflows, model coordination and clash resolution.
• Expertise in architectural detailing and preparation of construction drawing packages.
• Drawing quality control, revision management and document control capabilities.
• Ability to independently develop accurate, coordinated architectural deliverables.

Desirable Experience

• Knowledge of Autodesk Vault, Forma or Navisworks.
• Experience with BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Familiarity with SharePoint, InEight or similar document management systems.
• Experience with Revit-based quantity take-offs and schedules.
• SACAP registration.

Additional Information

• Applicants must hold South African citizenship or valid work authorisation.
• Occasional travel to project sites may be required.
• A portfolio of recent Revit-based architectural work will be requested.
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical Revit assessment to demonstrate modelling proficiency, architectural detailing, drawing accuracy and quality of output.
